With Hope In Our Hearts…

  • Everton 1-0 Man City
  • Man Utd 2 – 0 Stoke
  • Swansea 1 – 1 Chelsea
  • Tottenham 3 – 1 Wigan

  • Liverpool's ups and downs
  • Wolves 0 -3 Liverpool
Wow! We beat a bottom-of-the-table side comfortably (in the end) and without Gerrard playing; On top of that, Kuyt and Carroll both seem to have hit a bit of form; And, Suarez’s ban has been served in full. Things are looking optimistic, despite the lack of transfer activity! more »

Snakes & Ladders

  • Filmhouse: why make something easier when you can make it three times as difficult!-4

  • The Filmhouse, Edinburgh – I bought a ticket online for a specific screening, a month in advance and they sent me an email. BUT, rather than being my ticket (as other cinemas do, and which is kind of the whole point and convenience of online shopping) all they sent me was a reference number and then expected me to bother to remember about it and then go out of my way to pop into their box-office and pick up the ticket – and to be fair it would only be a slight addition to my commute to and from work, except that their box-office isn’t open at the times that I’m making that commute in the normal scheme of things! more »

Bloody Hell! We beat Man. Utd. in the cup!! I don’t know if we deserved that, for most of the game we looked the lesser side but I suppose we did look the most likely to score.

Return To Stand-Up

I went to The Stand comedy club in Edinburgh. I haven’t really bothered with live stand-up for about 15 years. I gave up on it back then cos I saw some fuck-awful guy in a pub during the Festival, and he just wasn’t funny, but he didn’t seem capable of grasping that himself and so he would then spend most of his act taking it out on the audience. Well, you know, it was the festival, and it was free so you take your chances with these things. Unfortunately, over the course of the next year I kept going into pubs for a quiet jar, only for the same fucker to keep appearing and starting setting-up, and he never ever, ever, got any better.

So I went out Friday warily, accompanying some veterans who knew that you needed to gettin’ as soon as the doors opened to have a chance of getting seats but that then you’d be stuck there for 2 and a half hours before the show started. It was a bit annoying, and the seats and tables were all in kids sizes seemingly. But the show itself featuring: Martin Mor, Keir McAllister, Adnan Ahmed and Paul Ricketts, and hosted by Bruce Devlin, was entertaining enough. Nothing truly memorable, nothing truly original but good. Worth doing again I’d say.

A New Year, A New Kristin Hersh Schnippit

So I shut my eyes and when I opened them again, my little house and my little band were gone, and I’d become a ghost, wandering in the Mojave desert, hoping I’d blow away.

Eek! I feared the worst with every passing kick, but they never really go into gear, so we never had to go into meltdown!! With every passing game we play, Lucas’ reputation increases exponentially in his absence!! more »
