  • Liverpool's ups and downs
  • Chelsea 0 – 2 Liverpool
I don’t know! I don’t know! I don’t know! Yet again, we’re doing it against the big clubs, but… Have we got a greater chance against City from 2-legs or one? Or will it take more out of us?And without Gerrard, withouit Lucas, and soon without Suarez – this is gonna get messy?!!! more »

We finished last season in 6th place, 4 points behind Tottenham in 5th. If Spurs win their games in hand we’ll be in 6th place, 4 points behind Tottenham. We spent £100 million over the summer and we’ve got 10 points more than the equivalent results last year, and we’re in exactly the same place! more »

Lately I’ve Been Reading:

T.F. Powys, God’s Eyes A-Twinkle (Bath: Cedric Chivers, 1974)

I’ve said before that I find the short-stories of T.F. Powys fall into two camps: there are the just slightly odd stories, and then there are the remainder which are just plain fucking boring doodles of nothingness. This collection was heavily weighted in favour of the latter, but with the merest sprinkling of the former to keep people interested (unfortunately, the former were mostly stories I had previously been introduced to, so I certainly struggled to stay interested). I can only imagine that this collection was compiled by a critic, in the way that film critics always obsess over the longest, slowest drags that everyone else thinks of as just a painful waste of life (it’s like an academic torture where the suffering is just a way of weeding out the less committed, and if you’re not bored to tears you can’t claim to be suitably objective). Yes, you could write pages of spiel about these stories, the recurring themes, the recurring names, the recurring types of peoples, the recurring locale, the recurring use of landscapes and weather… the spiel would easily be longer than any of the stories, but they wouldn’t deserve it.

Snakes & Ladders

  • Scottish Power: Whoa! Steady There Boys!-2

  • I’m in the process of switching electricity & gas suppliers: the new lot, Scottish Hydro are showing me suppositions of between £70-200 cheaper than what I’m currently paying (and that’s without switching to direct debit payments). So Scottish Power send me a ‘sorry to see you go’ letter, and their big riposte is a £16.80 annual discount that they were already dazzling me with anyway!!). #pullingoutthebigguns

I wish we’d played like that against then in the league (and we always look a better team when Maxi’s playing). more »
