Word Of The Day 29/06

LIBATION

It’s a word one never hears, but occasional reads – does that make it a would-be writer’s word? It does always create a bit of a conundrum though, it feels fitting to use it in the vicinity of a word like ‘BEVERIDGE’, but of course the one word would seem to render the other rather redundant! What Went Wrong?

15ft giants invade Princes Street.

I don’t think you can see how bad a job has been made of this picture at this size, but I didn’t want to make it any bigger than that. I mean, just for starters, the blurry kid in the corner looks like he was cut out of a newspaper and pasted on by hand. All of the other additional people would seem to be about 15ft tall and dressed for summer, but (more than slightly) lacking in depth; And something seems to have happened to the cyclist, but I can’t quite figure what – I hope someone warned his mother! more »

Bleedin’ Holes!

Well, it seems like today was the day for gettin’ swamped with proposed tram route propaganda. It seemed like a good idea because Granton was finally gonna be connected with the centre of town, cos at the moment it feels like we’re stuck on the outskirts with what-might-as-well-be a rural bus service, I think cut-off would be the phrase most apposite. Only, on closer inspection, our roads and pavements which really don’t add up to anything more than a random collection of holes, will now be joined by a tram route with a big hole in the northerly loop! … And guess where I live?
